You know Spring is here when I catch folks are sneaking ice cubes into their rosé thinking I don't notice, haha! Anyway, there are a couple of public tastings I'm doing at a shop named Batik Chicago at 3746 N Southport I hope you can join. They have coastal fashions for women, baby and home items that will make you feel like you're in South Hampton on the beach with a glass of Champagne and fried chicken - my fav pairing! Register for one or both events at BATIK - the wines will be exceptional featuring a high/low blind tasting and a pairings tasting with some of my favorites I know you'll enjoy.
Speaking of pairings - Christine Pittman, Owner of Cook the Story, invited me back to talk wine & cheese pairings on her PODCAST so you can create the perfect selection of cheeses for your porch and backyard gatherings. Take a listen on your next walk, it's a short 20 min episode.
I'm finally winding down after hosting 110 women at the River Forest Tennis Club where winemaker and winery owner Gretchen Voelcker of Luna Hart Wines out of Santa Barbara County presented 5 of her small production, minimal intervention wines that are so, so delicious. After visiting her last May I had to bring the winery to Chicago to experience her wines and her everflowing passion for her brand. The favorites of the evening were the Sparkling Gruner, Blanc de Cabernet Franc and Reserve Syrah but I recommend ANY of her wines.
I hope you are enjoying some beautiful wines this Spring!
Your friend in wine,Jane
